“It is once again the great honor of the Rotary Club of Annapolis to host our annual and largest fundraiser of the year, the annual Black Tie & Diamonds gala,” stated Robert Young, president of the club. “This is truly an elegant and fun-filled evening that is developed to sponsor one of our local non-profits and provide us all with the opportunity to give back to our great Annapolis community. Please join me and the Rotary Club of Annapolis as we dress in our finest and have a memorable time for a wonderful cause.”
“Food insecurity in Annapolis is an often hidden, but very real, concern for many working families”, shared Jen Denney, Black Tie & Diamonds Co-Chair. “As Rotarians, we want to help support Marshall Hope to continue their mission of providing healthy food to our neighbors who need it most.”
All proceeds from Black Tie and Diamonds will benefit Marshall Hope Corporation, which was selected through application process open to all Annapolis non-profit organizations. The Marshall Hope Corporation began during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic when Amy Marshall and another local mother joined forces to solicit donations to support the family of a man who passed away from the virus. From this beginning, the women started with a list of 50 families who were desperate for food due to job losses, and the response from the community was more than they ever anticipated. Word spread and Brian Riddle, owner of Homestead Gardens made a significant donation and sourced a refrigerated truck loaned by Ideal Lease free of charge. After news stories on WBAL-TV and The Today Show, Perdue learned about the initiative and donated 35,000 pounds of chicken for distribution. Marshall Hope is currently serving 250 to 300 families twice a month. To learn more about Marshall Hope, visit www.marshallhope.org.
